Palo Macho, Timing the Line
Venue: Nedbalka Gallery, Bratislava
Date: June 26 – October 5, 2017
The exhibition presents a unique collection of original glass objects incorporating drawing to art lovers from Bratislava and abroad. Its author is the leading Slovak artist Palo Macho (born 1965), the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and the winner of major national and international exhibitions of contemporary art. The exhibition showcases Macho’s drawings, still a little known feature of his art since he is best known for his glass paintings. In addition to painted studio glass, he has exhibited the results of his cooperation with major Slovak artists in the project called Conjunctions / Time Coincidence running for the last 14 years.
This collection of works has not been presented in this form so far and the exhibition in Bratislava will be the world premiere. A number of exhibits and their display stands have been specially created and designed for the Nedbalka Gallery.
A monograph will be launched at the exhibition, documenting and analysing the artist’s work in the context of international contemporary studio glass and drawing. The book was written by the Czech curator of the exhibition, internationally recognised Sylva Petrová, emeritus professor at the University of Sunderland in Great Britain. The photographs were taken by Jana Hojstričová, an art photographer and Vice-Chancellor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. The graphic design was done by the photographer, illustrator and graphic artist Julo Nagy, the owner of the Calder graphic studio. The show is included in the international exhibition Sculpture and Object XXI. 2017.
